Here are some tips to help you enjoy your stay at Orlando's Walt Disney World.
Get there early! The parks fill to peak capacity around 11:00 am. Take
advantage of the early entries offered at on site Disney hotels. If the
gates are scheduled to open at 9:00, be there at 8:30, sometimes they are
opened early.
The parking lot for the Magic Kingdom is far from the park itself. Allow
at least 45 extra minutes to get to the gate because you will have to take a
tram from the parking lot and then a monorail or ferryboat.
Hit the most popular attractions early, and don't try to get them all in on
one day.
The most popular attractions are:
- Magic Kingdom: Big Thunder Mountain, Dumbo, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain
- Epcot: Honey I Shrunk the Audience, Test Track
- Animal Kingdom: It's Tough to Be a Bug, Kilimanjaro Safaris, Lion King
Show
- MGM Studios: Star Tours, Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Rock n Roller
coaster, Voyage of the little Mermaid, Fantasmic!
Stay on site if you can afford it.
Eat at off times - Lunch by 11:00, or late lunch at 3:00. Dinner at 5 p.m.
Have a plan on what you and the family want to see/do. Work it out before
you get to the park. Split up if necessary for certain rides or events.
Consider the size of the parks you plan to visit and vary the attractions.
A full day at Disney MGM Studios is a lot of sitting and watching. A full
day at Epcot is too much walking. Do some half-day park hopping to vary the
action.
Take a break during the day to rest. There are resting areas in the park,
or return to your hotel mid-day. Take a full day mid week for sleeping in,
laying by the pool, shopping or relaxing if you have more than 4 days of
vacation time.
Leave an extra day for kids to return to their favorite sites and bring the
video camera that day only.
