About Flying into Walt Disney World Orland

Airports: The Orlando International Airport (MCO) is the major airport in the area. Large charter flights fly into Sanford Orlando International Airport, but ground transportation must be considered, as it is about 35 miles away from the Disney area. A package deal with a flight into the Tampa Airport (TPA) which includes airfare, a rental car and beach accommodations can be a great way to visit both Tampa and Disney World.

Package deals can save you money by consolidating airfare, hotel and transportation costs. AAA or AARP also offer discounts on Orlando package deals. You can find package offers in the travel section of your local newspaper, although be wary to the "too good to be true" deal. Also, ads in travel magazines like Travel & Leisure may be helpful.

Package offers are available at:

  • American Express Vacations 800-241-1700

The club card entitles you to 20% discounts on Disney site hotels during fall and winter months) and 10% discounts on shows, restaurants and merchandise, and theme parks. There is a 2-year membership fee of $50.00, which is easily recouped. If your corporation has a Gold Card membership, you may be able to get the discounts free. Contact the human resource department.

Disney World TIP: each child/adult MUST have their own belly pack. Why should Mom or Dad carry everything? Rule Number Two—put a small plastic bottle of spring water in each pack. When it’s empty, the person simply finds the nearest drinking fountain (they’re outside each restroom) and refills it. A cool drink of water is far more thirst quenching than a sugary soda.
